Tell Your Supervisors: We Need Electric Vehicles in Fairfax County

Dear Fairfax County Board of Supervisors,

Transportation is responsible for more than 45 percent of Virginia's greenhouse gas emissions. To stave off the worst impacts of global warming, we need to transition to electric cars, buses and trucks as quickly as possible. Fairfax County has the opportunity to reduce global warming pollution, save the county money, and ensure cleaner, healthier air by transitioning to vehicles that don't emit dangerous pollutants.

We respectfully ask that you:
1. Develop an Electric Vehicle (EV) action plan to transition to all zero emission vehicles by 2035
2. Transition county-owned fleets, transit buses and school buses to electric by 2030
3. Increase the number of publicly available charging stations throughout the county
4. Include the electrification of transportation as a key part of the county's core planning processes
5. Lead regional and state-wide efforts to put the county on a path to fully transition all new vehicles to electric by 2035.

Sincerely,
